Where is Krabi Night Market?

Krabi Town is home to multiple night markets, each offering a unique experience. The most famous is the Krabi Town Street Market, a large weekend market that takes over Maharaj 8 Road every Friday to Sunday from 5 PM till around 10/11 PM. This market is the liveliest, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from street food and souvenirs to clothing and handmade crafts.

If you’re looking for a night market open daily, head to the Black Crab Night Market, located nearby along the riverfront with the Giant Crab Statue. This smaller, more relaxed market runs every evening and is a great place to enjoy authentic Thai food with a local vibe. We love this market a lot!

Which type of transport is recommended for the area?

Both markets are easily accessible by tuk-tuk, taxi, scooter, or on foot if you’re staying in Krabi Town. As with most places in Sout East Asia, we just love to explore the area and be mobile with a scooter. And I can highly recommend this way of transport as it gives you so much freedom!

Be ahead of the herd.

Make sure to reserve your scooter ahead of time, as we have seen many tourists searching and searching and all shops were sold out during high season. We always rent with our preferred company Bikago, as their service is great so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

You can rent your scooter on time by clicking this link

Pro tip: If your with 2 persons and want to explore the areas around Krabi a lot, make sure to take the 160cc ones, as they offer more power but also a lot more comfort than the 125cc scooters. The passenger in the back will be grateful 😆

Krabi Town Night Market, Open Friday – Sunday

Krabi Night Market is an explosion of flavors, colors, and sounds—a place where every visit feels like a mini adventure. We loved how the market is laid out, making it easy to explore without feeling overwhelmed.

The food section is always our favorite, and honestly, we found ourselves coming back just to try more! From sizzling pad Thai cooked right in front of you to fresh seafood and creamy mango sticky rice, every stall seemed to offer something tempting.

Beyond the food, we wandered through stalls filled with handcrafted souvenirs, clothing, and artwork, picking up a few unique finds along the way. The live music and street performers added to the experience, making it more than just a market—it felt like a festival.

The best part? The mix of locals and travelers creates a fun, welcoming vibe. Whether you’re hunting for bargains, indulging in delicious street food, or just soaking up the buzzing atmosphere, Krabi Night Market is a must-visit that won’t hurt your wallet. If you love exploring night markets, this one is bound to steal the top spot on your list!

Some of the favourite dishes and delicacies

Here are some of the favorite dishes and delicacies you can find at Krabi Town Night Market

Hot Dishes

  • Grilled Seafood – Fresh prawns, squid, and fish grilled over charcoal, served with spicy sauce.
  • Pad Thai – Stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, or tofu, topped with crushed peanuts and lime. Thailands ultimate dish!
  • Thai Fried Chicken (Gai Tod) – Crispy, golden-brown chicken often served with sticky rice.
  • Moo Ping (Grilled Pork Skewers) – Marinated pork skewers cooked over an open flame, served with spicy dipping sauce. Lots of stands offering different variations of this great dish.
  • Som Tam (Papaya Salad) – A refreshing and spicy salad made from shredded green papaya, chili, lime, and peanuts. You can often take it with or without little baby prawns. Make sure to mention this if your vegan and want to have it with just veggies, oh yeah make sure you don’t get to much chili pepers. This salad is absolute FIRE when they make it their way. I am used to spicy food, but in a cold salad it takes it to a whole different level!
  • Thai Omelet (Khai Jeow) – Fluffy and crispy omelet, often served over rice with a splash of chili sauce. Thai people love their omelets and you will see many variations at the market.

Sweet Treats

  • Mango Sticky Rice – Our absolute favourite: Sweet mango slices served with coconut-infused sticky rice. Can’t visit Thailand without this epic dish. We try it at home sometimes, but never taste anywhere near of what you can get here.
  • Thai Roti Pancakes – Crispy, buttery crepes filled with banana or nutella. Great little treat my daughter (and sometimes myself) likes to get.
  • Coconut Ice Cream – Served in a coconut shell with toppings like peanuts and sticky rice.
This is vegan friendly and only made with coconut milk and cream. Not a day goes by in Thailand without a coconut ice cream for us 😂

Fresh Drinks

  • Fresh Coconut Water – Served straight from the coconut, perfect for cooling down and loads of health benefits.
  • Thai Iced Tea – Sweet and creamy tea with condensed milk and ice. Budget version of starbucks.
  • Fresh Fruit Smoothies – Blended tropical fruits like mango, dragon fruit, and passionfruit.
Mango being our all time favourite. Mix it for a change with passion fruit 😋

Black Crab Night Market, Opening Times

Live music & freshly cooked food fills the air at Black Crab Night Market, creating the perfect vibe for a laid-back evening by the river. As we walked through the stalls, the mix of local tunes, sizzling street food, and friendly vendors made this market feel like a hidden gem in Krabi. It’s a spot where you can escape the tourist crowds and enjoy an authentic Thai night market experience.

Opening times are not set in stone and depends on the season, but normally the stands open between 4 and 5pm and you can expect the stands to close after 10pm, sometimes even 11 if there is enough crowd.

Prices are very affordable compared to the restaurants in the area, with most snacks costing between 10 and 30 baht. Plus the food is much fresher and better then when you go elsewhere in Krabi. Freshly grilled seafood, crispy roti, and spicy Thai salads, Kebab, Burgers and more are all served at local prices, making it easy to eat your belly full without spending much.

What to expect and best local dishes

We have found our favourite spot at the left back when facing away from the river, just before the stage. There is a Thai lady, or actually multiple ladies working tirelessly to prepare the most incredible fresh dishes each custom and with the best ingredients.

Here i have some pictures of the stand i am talking about. Which is truly one of my better experiences in whole of Thailand, and i can highly recommend coming here. Our absolute favourite was the pineapple rice dish with cashews. My mouth waters at the thought of it.

Beyond the food, there’s plenty to explore in this market. Handcrafted jewellery, some clothing, and local souvenirs line the stalls. Whether you’re here for the music, the flavours, or just the relaxed atmosphere, Black Crab Night Market is a must-visit in Krabi.

Top Tours & Activities Around Krabi

Krabi is known to be a place where some of the best excursions take place. Because its close to many beautiful white sand tropical islands, its an absolute must on the agenda.
Below are some of the activities that are in highest demand.

We experienced the Phi Phi and the 4 Island Tour, the Hong Island Tour & the James Bond Island. Each one offering its own unique thrill and excitement. All come highly recommended, with breathtaking scenery, crystal-clear waters, and unforgettable adventures that will last a very long time.

The beauty of these islands is absolutely breathtaking and being on the water and have a lunch prepared and no other agenda for the day, just makes it feel like a true escape from the world, surrounded by nothing but stunning scenery.

We also truly enjoyed the expedition to the Tiger Temple and the hot springs. To get to the summit of the Tiger Cave, you have to climb 1260 steps. That sounds like a lot, and to be fair . . It is. But the view is magnificent when you get to the top and especially during sunset.

Its well worth the hike and at the top you are greeted with fresh water and a lot of happy faces. And a great way to end the day and with this tour, you get picked up a the hotel and don’t have to think about anything else. Its my favourite thing while traveling!

Tips for Visiting Krabi Town Night Markets

  • Avoid crowds – To be fair, we didn’t mind that it was a bit crowded in the evening around 7pm. It made the atmosphere even better and we enjoyed to wait for some of our favourite dishes. If you want to eat quickly, i recommend coming before 6pm.
  • Bring cash – Most stalls don’t accept cards, so carrying enough Thai Baht is essential for food and shopping.
  • Watch your belongings – While the market is safe, it can get packed, making it an easy target for pickpockets in crowded areas, but thats pretty normal for each city.
  • Come hungry – With so many tempting street food options, you’ll want to try as much as possible, so skip a meal beforehand and take your time to enjoy the food.
  • Bring a reusable bag – If you plan to shop for souvenirs or snacks, a small tote bag makes carrying your finds easier.
  • Learn basic Thai phrases – Some vendors have limited English, so knowing simple words like “Sawasdee” (hello) and “Khop khun” (thank you) helps and shows them respect.
  • Check for live performances – Some nights feature local musicians, dancers, or even street magicians, adding to the experience.
  • Have an open mind – Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to try something new.

Do I Need to Worry About Food Poisoning?

From what we saw, the produce at Krabi Night Market & the Weekend Night Market are very fresh. That said, we always take a few precautions when eating street food. We tend to be cautious with fish, meat, and dairy products, as these are often the riskiest. A good rule of thumb is to stick to foods that are cooked, fried, or stir-fried—the high heat helps eliminate any potential issues.

We absolutely love fresh fruit and vegetables, and here, they looked safe and well-handled. To stay on the safe side, we recommend checking out the stall before ordering. Look at how they prepare the food, whether they wash their hands, and if the stall is busy with locals (always a good sign!). Use common sense, trust your instincts, and you’ll be just fine enjoying all the delicious street food Krabi has to offer!

F.A.Q. Krabi Town Night Market

1: Is Krabi Night Market cash-only?
Yes, most stalls only accept cash, so bring small Thai Baht bills for easy transactions.
ATM’s are right next to the markets.

2: What kind of food can I find at Krabi Night Market?
A mix of Thai street food, including grilled seafood, satay, pad Thai, mango sticky rice, coconut ice cream, roti pancakes, noodles, burgers, sushi, cocktails, and fresh tropical juices.

3: Can I bargain with vendors at Krabi Night Market?
You can try bargaining for souvenirs, clothes, or accessories, but food prices are usually fixed.

4: Are there vegetarian or vegan options at Krabi Night Market?
Yes! You’ll find vegetable stir-fries, fresh fruit, grilled corn, spring rolls, and coconut-based desserts that are great for vegetarians and vegans. When you order a dish, just ask if its vegan or vegetarian. Most will understand this and if needed prepare a dish for you thats vegan. Again i recommend the Pineapple Cashew Rice dish to everyone. Vegan or not!

5: Is Krabi Night Market worth visiting?
Absolutely! It’s a great place for budget-friendly and not just that but also incredible food, local shopping, and live entertainment. A must-visit experience in Krabi Town and a great way to spend 1 or 2 hours in the evening. We always make it a part of our evening in Thailand to go to a local night market, its something that makes Thailand that special for us and we keep coming back!

6: Can i get to neighbour country Cambodia from Krabi?
Yes, thats possible. The best way by our opinion is to take the Flight from Surat Thani to Bangkok and from there the bus to Siem Reap. All can be done for around $80, with both the flight and bus costing around $40.
