Bingin Beach may seem tucked away, but it’s no hidden secret. Known as a popular spot for both locals and travelers, this beach offers a unique balance of seclusion and liveliness. The journey to Pantai Bingin feels like a mini-adventure. With winding paths, limestone cliffs, and a beachside vibe that’s simply unbeatable.

What Are the Costs: Bali Bingin Beach Essentials

One of the best things about Bali Bingin Beach is that it’s accessible for various budgets. Unlike other beaches that might charge entry fees, access to Bingin Beach is free.

How to Get to Bingin Beach Bali

Located here on the southern coast of the Bukit Peninsula, it’s about a 50-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. You can easily rent a scooter, car, or hire a private driver to get here, depending on your comfort level.

Since we were already exploring Uluwatu, we decided to take a short ride on our scooter, which gave us the freedom to explore nearby beaches and restaurants as well.

Directions and What to Expect on the Way

Once you’re in Uluwatu or nearby Padang Padang, you’re quite close to Bingin. Roads here can be narrow and winding, often shaded by overhanging trees and surrounded by limestone cliffs. Using a map or GPS is a good idea, especially for first-time visitors.

Bingin Beach in Uluwatu isn’t as accessible by scooter or wheelchair due to the steep 190 steps leading down to the beach, but don’t worry, as the descent is part of what makes this beach so special. Every step down feels like leaving the outside world behind and gives an extra spark to the secludedness.

Parking at Bali Bingin Beach

Parking near Bali Bingin Beach is relatively straightforward, though it can get crowded during peak times. There’s a small parking area just above the steps down to the beach, where you’ll likely see scooters and a few cars lined up. You can find it on this location.

For scooter rental, you will be charged 5,000 IDR, which is more than reasonable. If you don’t mind a short walk, there is a parking area 150 meters further which is free of charge. 

Parking for cars can cost a bit more, but generally under 10,000 IDR. If you’re like me and enjoy avoiding the hassle of tight parking and Bali’s famous traffic, a scooter is your best option for a quick and easy way to get to the entrance.

Pro tip: Remember that Bali Bingin Beach requires a walk down steep stairs. If you’re not up for the climb on the way back, consider hiring a local to help carry heavier items up for you. 

Watch an Incredible Bali Sunset at Bingin Beach

Sunset at Bali Bingin Beach is nothing short of magical. There’s something so serene about watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the waves and illuminating the limestone cliffs.

I highly recommend getting to the beach about an hour before sunset to snag a good spot, either on a lounger or at one of the nearby warungs.

As the sun sets, Bingin Beach in Uluwatu transforms. Locals and tourists gather along the shore, sipping on coconut water, fish bbq and cocktails and capturing the moment with their cameras. The many warungs set their terraces out on the the beach, which gives an amazing vibe.

Pro tip: Check the tide times if you’re planning on sunset shots; low tide gives you access to neighbouring Dreamland Beach, where the sunset can be even more magical as its facing entirely west on the outer parts of the beach.

Surfing at Bingin Beach: Riding World-Class Waves

Bingin Beach Bali is best known for its surf scene, attracting wave riders from every corner of the globe. With its internationally acclaimed left-hand reef break, Bingin offers powerful and consistent waves that are truly one of a kind.

The challenging waves at Bingin are best suited to experienced surfers, given the shallow reef breaks and fast, barreling waves. But even if you’re new to the sport, the scene here is still inspiring, with surfers carving the waves against the stunning backdrop of the Indian Ocean.

If you’re looking to join the fun, several local surf shops near Pantai Bingin Beach offer board rentals, along with surfing gear essentials. Prices for rentals range between 50,000 to 100,000 IDR per hour, making it affordable to test the waters without a long-term commitment.

With plenty of surfers drawn to Bingin’s waves, it’s wise to hit the ocean early in the morning when the tide and crowds are at their most favorable.

Take Beginner Surf Lessons

For those who are new to surfing, Bali Bingin Beach is a decent place to get started, although not as beginner friendly as Baby Padang. While the main break can be challenging, nearby areas offer gentler waves where beginners can learn the basics. Many of the surf shops around Bingin also offer lessons tailored to all levels, so you don’t need prior experience to get out on the water. 

Surf instructors here are not only knowledgeable about the local waves but also passionate about sharing the sport with newcomers and compared to other countries, this is a great and budget place to learn how to surf.

Local Pro Tip: When there is low tide, the beginner area gets difficult and more dangerous because of the exposed corral. Make sure to consult with a professional before renting your gear and catch the waves. Best to head over to Padang Padang (Baby Padang) when your a beginner or the tide is low.

Padang Padang Surf Camp – A short distance from Bingin, this surf camp offers multi-day packages, perfect for those who want to dive deep into the sport. The surf camp offers transport to nearby beginner-friendly beaches.

Pro local tip: If you’re starting your surfing journey at Bali Bingin Beach, book a lesson early in the morning. The early hours not only mean gentler waves but also smaller crowds, giving you more space to practice and enjoy the ocean.

What to Expect in a Beginner Lesson

During a typical beginner surf lesson, instructors start with an introduction on the beach, teaching safety basics and paddling techniques. You’ll learn how to read the waves, keep your balance, and stand up on the board. Basically all essential skills to build confidence before heading into the water. 

After these instructions, which will normally last around 5-10 minutes, its time to head into the water and catch some whitewash waves. You should be able to catch a few waves on your first lesson and feel the excitement of surfing. 

Most lessons run between 60 to 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to practice catching smaller waves, either on a longboard or foam board, which are more stable and beginner-friendly.

Bingin Beach Clubs

Beach clubs near Bali Bingin Beach add a touch of luxury to the laid-back vibe. Whether you’re craving a cocktail or just looking to spend time at a beachside bar, there are a few great spots worth mentioning. Most beach clubs here focus on creating an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere, making it easy to stay for hours. Here’s a list of our favourite beach clubs

1. El Kabron Cliff Club

Perched on the cliffs just a short distance from Bingin, (with low tide you can walk to it) on dreamland beach you have El Kabron Cliff Club. This is one of Bali’s most luxurious and scenic beach clubs. With stunning views of the Indian Ocean, this Spanish-inspired club is known for its elegant setting, infinity pool, and tapas-style menu.

It’s especially popular for sunset views, often with live music or DJ sets, creating a fun yet relaxed vibe. Make sure to reserve a spot ahead, as it tends to get busy, especially around sunset. Entrance fee is IDR 300K for an adult excl 500K IDR food & beverage spend.

2. The Cashew Tree

While not a traditional beach club, The Cashew Tree is a beloved spot among visitors and locals alike. Located a short walk from Pantai Bingin Beach, this open-air café and bar offers a laid-back vibe and a variety of healthy food options, from smoothie bowls to fresh salads. On certain nights, they host live music events, creating a relaxed beach-club-like atmosphere. It’s a fantastic place to fuel up after surfing or enjoy a casual evening with friends.

3. Bingin Beach House

Tucked right on the sands of Bingin Beach in Uluwatu, Bingin Beach House is a cozy beach bar that feels like a hidden gem. Known for its relaxed ambiance, friendly staff, and beautiful views, this spot is perfect if you’re looking to chill out in a low-key setting. It’s a fantastic choice for grabbing a cold drink, lounging on the beach, and enjoying the ocean breeze.
They are mostly known for their family holiday home, so don’t forget to book a stay with them.

Bingin Beach Restaurants

After a day of swimming or surfing, there’s nothing better than grabbing a bite right by the beach. Bingin Beach Bali offers various dining options, from casual warungs (local family owned restaurants) to trendy cafés, each providing a different taste of Bali’s diverse food scene. 

Warung Restaurants at Bingin Beach

The local warungs along Bali Bingin Beach are my personal favorites. These small, family-run establishments offer authentic Balinese dishes at very reasonable prices. Here are a few highlights:

Kelly’s Warung: Known for its relaxed atmosphere, Kelly’s Warung serves fresh smoothie bowls, wraps, and even vegan options. With a view of the waves and a cozy seating area, this spot has become a go-to for many travelers looking to refuel without breaking the bank. 

Bingin Family Warung: Here, you’ll find delicious Balinese-style nasi goreng, satay, and fresh seafood at great prices. It’s the perfect spot if you’re craving local flavors with a view of the surf.

Trendy Restaurants and Cafés near Bingin Beach

If you’re after a more modern café vibe, the Bukit Peninsula has no shortage of chic places where you can enjoy fresh juices, hearty brunches, and espresso-based drinks just a short walk or drive from the beach.

1. El Kabron

While known primarily as a beach club, El Kabron also has a fantastic restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. With its stunning cliffside location, it’s an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a stylish lunch. Indulge in tapas, seafood paella, or fresh salads while taking in breathtaking ocean views. The atmosphere is upscale, and the sunset views are simply spectacular.

2. Drifter Cafe

A favorite among surfers and travelers, Drifter Cafe offers a cozy, laid-back atmosphere and a menu featuring healthy bowls, fresh juices, and great coffee. The cafe has a surf shop attached, giving it a unique vibe. It’s an excellent place to grab a quick bite after a morning of surfing or to relax with a book and a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

4. Warung Bejana

Gooseberry Café: Just a short walk from Bingin, Gooseberry Café is an excellent choice for brunch with a twist. With a menu that combines French-inspired dishes and local ingredients, it’s a must-visit for foodies exploring the Bukit area.

Canggu to Uluwatu

Traveling from Canggu to Uluwatu covers about 25 kilometers and takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic. Many travelers rent a scooter for flexibility or choose a taxi for a comfortable ride through Bali’s coastal scenery. This journey offers a shift from Canggu’s trendy surf vibe to the more relaxed, beachy feel of Uluwatu.

Once in Uluwatu, you’ll find a different side of Bali. Known for its stunning cliffs and sunsets, Uluwatu is home to Bingin Beach—a hidden spot with serene turquoise waters and soft sands. Bingin offers a peaceful escape from Canggu’s bustle, making the journey worthwhile for beach lovers and surfers alike.

While in Uluwatu, be sure to visit the iconic Uluwatu Temple, a must-see experience in the area. Its best to go before the sunset and buy your tickets in advance as they tend to sell out 1 or 2 days in advance for the sunset performance. They have 6 and 7pm performances (times can vary slightly depending on sunset time).

Padang Padang is a great spot for both beginner surfing, and it has a more lively vibe than Bingin, with plenty of vendors and activities.

Dreamland Beach

True to its name, Dreamland Beach offers long stretches of sandy shore, rolling waves, and an expansive view of the Indian Ocean. Known as a surfer’s paradise, this beach can get a bit crowded, but the wide-open space means there’s room for everyone. It’s a great spot if you want to relax without venturing too far from Bali Bingin Beach or catch an incredible sunset.

Approximately 4 kilometers away, Suluban Beach is a hidden gem located beneath steep cliffs. You’ll need to descend a series of stairs to reach this beach, but the effort is well worth it. The beach is small but picturesque, offering a more secluded atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the beauty of the Indian Ocean.
