The best time of day for dolphin watching at Lovina Beach is early morning, just before sunrise. Tours typically start around 5:30 AM, as this is when the waters are calm and the dolphins are most active. The experience is even more magical during Bali’s dry season, which runs from May to September.

The complex features three pools of warm, mineral-rich water flowing from stone-carved dragon spouts, with the main pool offering a therapeutic waterfall-like massage. Surrounded by tropical greenery, it’s a perfect place to unwind and recharge after exploring the northern region.

👉 Local tip: Come when the weather is cooler. So later afternoon or early morning. The warm water just feels a bit better when the air around is nice and cool.

8: Sekumpul Waterfall: Bali’s Hidden Gem

Among all the waterfalls in Bali, Sekumpul is considered by many the most stunning. Located deep in the jungles of Buleleng Regency, this cluster of seven cascades surrounded by beautiful greenery is a sight to behold.

❗ Locals will try to sell you a guide for 150,000 up to 200,000 IDR, but there is no need for this if you just want to see the viewpoint or walk to the waterfall yourself. Which is 20,000 IDR.

Reaching Sekumpul involves a scenic trek that takes you past rice paddies and small villages, providing a deeper connection to the land. The hike can be moderately challenging, but it’s worth every step. Don’t forget to pack water-resistant shoes, as you’ll cross small rivers on the way.

Once reaching the bottom, the view is incredible and worth the hike!

9: Munduk Village, Waterfalls and Monkeys

Munduk and its waterfalls: Munduk; a charming village in the mountains of North Bali, is a haven for nature lovers. It’s surrounded by dense forests, coffee plantations, and an array of waterfalls. Two of the most popular ones, Munduk Waterfall and Melanting Waterfall, are easily accessible from the village.

We spent an entire morning trekking through the area, breathing in the cool mountain air and soaking in the unspoiled beauty.

Playful Monkeys: There are several spots in Munduk where monkeys are everywhere, adding a lively and entertaining element to your visit. It’s easy to stop and watch these playful creatures, the true wild inhabitants of Bali. Bringing bananas or nuts can make the experience even more interactive.

We stumbled upon a local woman selling snacks for the monkeys right at one of these spots, leading to some hilarious moments as the monkeys eagerly grabbed their treats.

10: Bali’s Ancient Temples: A Spiritual Journey

Pura Beji Temple

This stunning temple in Sangsit Village is dedicated to Dewi Sri, the goddess of rice and fertility. Pura Beji, located in the far north of Bali, is a classic example of North Bali’s ornate temple architecture, with intricate carvings that depict traditional Balinese mythology. Visiting this temple gave us a deeper appreciation of Bali’s spiritual roots.

Pura Dalem Jagaraga

Known for its unique carvings, Pura Dalem Jagaraga located in the far norht if the island, is an intriguing temple to visit. The stone reliefs here depict scenes from Balinese life and even European influences from the colonial period, such as depictions of cars and airplanes.

Pura Ulun Danu Batur

Although its the second largest in Bali, I do not recommend coming here. The staff is rude and try to sell you everything, its looks deserted and full of garbage.

11: Exploring the Aling-Aling Waterfalls

For adventure seekers, the Aling-Aling Waterfalls are a must-visit. This waterfall is not just for admiring but also for interacting with. Thrill-seekers can take part in cliff jumping or slide down natural water slides. Guides are available to help ensure your safety and enhance the experience.

I’ll admit, the thought of leaping from a 10-meter cliff (uhm no not the 15 meter) was intimidating at first, but the rush of adrenaline made it one of the highlights of our North Bali adventure.

Lovina Beach North Bali is famous for its black volcanic sand and calm waters. It’s the ideal spot for a relaxing day by the ocean, with opportunities for sunrise dolphin tours, snorkeling, and diving. The peaceful atmosphere and vibrant sunsets make it a favorite for those seeking a quieter beach experience.

Pemuteran Beach

Pemuteran Beach is a serene escape known for its crystal-clear waters and thriving coral reefs. It’s a popular choice for snorkeling and diving, with the nearby Bio-Rock Coral Reef Restoration Project adding a unique element to underwater exploration.

❗ There used to be a big litter problem, but they are cleaning this now on a regular base.
Still not the cleanest beach and it can be pretty crowded at times.

Air Sanih (Yeh Sanih) Beach

This beach stands out for its natural spring water pools, which provide a refreshing alternative to swimming in the ocean. Located east of Lovina, Air Sanih Beach offers a mix of volcanic black sand and rocky shorelines. It’s a quieter, less crowded.

Wanagiri Coffee Plantation Bali

Located in the northern hills of Bali, Wanagiri Coffee Plantation is a family-run farm offering a unique coffee experience. You can explore the coffee-making process, sample various brews, including the famous Luwak coffee, and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Kintamani is one of the newly discovered places in Bali that gains a lot of popularity.
It truly feels like stepping into another world. When I arrived, the first thing that caught my attention was the majestic Mount Batur, an active volcano surrounded by the glistening waters of Lake Batur.

If you’re up for an adventure, you’ll love the sunrise hike to the summit—it’s an early start, but trust me, seeing the first light break over the mountains is absolutely worth it.

If hiking isn’t for you, don’t worry. You can still soak in the stunning views from cozy spots around the lake or from the nearby villages.

What I found especially enjoyable in Kintamani were the coffee plantations tucked into the hills. You can sip on freshly brewed coffee while learning about how it’s grown and processed right there. It’s a relaxing way to spend the morning.

When I first visited Menjangan Island, I couldn’t believe how untouched and beautiful it was. Known for its incredible coral reefs, this island feels like a hidden paradise for snorkeling and diving. As soon as I dipped into the crystal-clear waters, I was surrounded by beautiful marine life.

Schools of colourful fish, delicate corals, and even a curious sea turtle or two. If you love being in the water as much as weI do, you’ll find it hard to leave. The island is completely uninhabited, which adds to its peaceful vibe, and there are even a few temples you can explore to add a cultural touch to your visit.

From Munduk, it takes about 1.5 hours to Pemuteran, where boats depart for Menjangan Island. Once there, you can hire a guide or join a tour to explore the island’s underwater treasures.
