Living here, we’ve come to know each of these beaches as unique treasures, with everything from hidden coves to lively, surf-filled shores. 

Each beach here has something special, whether you’re a surfer seeking thrill, a traveler wanting a quiet escape, or a sunset lover. In this guide, I’ll share eight of the most breathtaking beaches in Uluwatu, with tips, insights, and local recommendations for enjoying them to the fullest.

Getting from the Airport to Uluwatu

Bali is originally made for only scooters and the roads are often not suitable for cars. This results in a lot of traffic jams. Therefore, the best way to discover Bali and go to the best and most secluded spots is by scooter!

There are several transportation options available for reaching Uluwatu from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Be mindful of the crazy traffic here especially in high season.
If you only have a few days and don’t want to drive a scooter, hiring a private driver is a great alternative.

Every time I visit Padang Padang, the beach is bustling with visitors, yet it retains a cozy, inviting atmosphere with its beautiful surroundings. It’s easy to see why it’s so beloved.

What to Expect at Padang Padang Beach

Padang Padang Beach is relatively small compared to some of Uluwatu’s other beaches, but that only adds to its charm. The sandy shore is enclosed by tall limestone cliffs, creating a feeling of seclusion despite the popularity of the beach. It can get crowded during high season due to the popularity and small size.

To access the beach, descend a winding stairway through a narrow rock opening. Padang Padang’s consistent reef breaks make it a favorite among intermediate to advanced surfers, though beginners can enjoy it on calmer days. Surf rentals are available if you’d like to try it out. For those who prefer relaxation, the shallow waters and sandy shore are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or simply taking in the view.

The Balinese Pipeline Padang Padang Left

During low tide, the reef is exposed, creating natural pools that make for a peaceful soak and a beautiful backdrop for photos. Watching the sunset here is a magical experience, with the golden light reflecting off the water and casting a warm glow over the cliffs.

The beach is lined with cozy cafés, small guesthouses, and local warungs and restaurants like The Cashew Tree, Kelly’s. Bingin Beach is one of those rare spots that perfectly balances adventure and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for a full day of sun, surf, and exploration.

Dreamland Beach is one of the more popular Uluwatu beaches, known for its long sandy shoreline, blue waters, and impressive cliff views. Unlike Uluwatu’s smaller, hidden beaches, Dreamland offers wide-open space, perfect for lounging, swimming, and watching the surf.

The beach has a lively, welcoming energy and various facilities, making it ideal for families, groups, and solo travelers alike. I love visiting Dreamland in the late afternoon, as the sunset against the limestone cliffs is spectacular.

Dreamland’s waves attract surfers and beach lovers who enjoy the scenic coastal landscape. The large waves make it popular for intermediate and advanced surfers but there is also enough place for the beginner surfer, with surf lessons being offered throughout the beach.

Dreamland Beach is conveniently located near upscale beach clubs like Klapa Beach Club and El Kabron Cliff Club, offering easy access to a luxurious beachside experience.

If you’re seeking a quiet escape, Nyang Nyang Beach is my favorite spot for a secluded, pristine experience. The expansive, untouched shoreline and stunning views make it one of Uluwatu’s best-kept secrets. Thanks to its remote location and steep path, it stays beautifully uncrowded. I still remember the first time descending the hillside and catching the glimpse of Nyang Nyang’s golden sands against the turquoise ocean. The trek was worth every step.

For me, Nyang Nyang is perfect for a day to truly unwind by the sea. Its powerful waves and open shoreline are best suited for experienced surfers, but I come here to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. With few people around and no visible development, the beach feels like a real paradise. I love packing a small picnic, wandering along the shore, and letting the day drift by in Bali’s natural beauty.

One thing I love about Thomas Beach is its simplicity. Just a few small cafés and local warungs offer snacks and drinks, creating a rustic, laid-back vibe. I love to spent an entire afternoon here, enjoying the calm waves, scenic views, and peaceful atmosphere. The water is gentle, perfect for swimming, and the spacious shore has ample room to relax without crowds.
